A Day in the Life

by Onu Oremun

Tick tocker. Time stopper. Sound effects. The real shocker. Yellow plum.  Purple pear. Polka-dotted underwear.  Hot days. Full of rain.  Picking clothes is really lame.  Plug it in.  Beat the race.  Nine to five.  No office space.  Moustache up.  Moustache down.  Sandy Beaches.  Out of town.  Crystal rings.  Pretty things.  Bloods burned. Death sings.  Bamboo poles.  Tin huts.  Lemon juice.  Paper cuts. Held signs. Hate crimes.  White culture. Rotten rinds.  Working hard.  Working late.  Coffee stains.  Masturbate.  Record players.  Black and white.  The future’s hidden.  From sight.  Mascarade.  Hear the panel.  Flip the switch.  Change the channel.  Flashy cars.  Bicyclettes.  Tennis shoes.  Cigarettes.  Finger puppets.  Tell the tale.  Dark wizards.  Never fail.  Pigeon poop at 2-5-2.  Happy days.  Far from few.  Dandelions.  Weeds and hoes.  Bad beats.  Big bros.  Dr. Dre. Eminem.  Byron. Blake. Tennyson.  Party poppin’. Dosey-doe.  Skinny jeans.  Dirty fro.  Rivers. Trees. Deep holes.  Muffin tops. Body rolls.  Play the ruthless. Play the foe.  Play the hearts of ones you know.  Four am poutine call.  Pickled peppered coleslaw.  Five miles to the land of glee.  Five miles of agony.  Church goers.  Lawn mowers.  Mexican and Asian sewers.  Fast forward. Rewind.  There’s nothing as useless as time.  Singalong. Pantalon.  Singalong.  Pantalon.  Singalong.  Pantalon.  Singalong.  Pantalon!
