The Glee Club

Things have been weird lately. It seems like every week there is something horrible happening to someone I know. If it’s not a heart-wrenching tragedy, then it’s the general glum mood of everyone around me, including myself. Some may blame the weather, and others, like Shawn Thompson, may explain it by talking about the cosmos, the alignment of the planets and maybe the over-abundance of out-of-body experiences. I only believe in what I can see and touch, so I’ll just explain it by saying that things are pretty shit right now.

Last Sunday, in the midst of this shit storm, I found myself in pyjamas in the middle of the day, hiding underneath my covers and desperately trying to stream some 30 Rock. None of the regular web sites were working. Megavideo kept telling me I had watched too much. Since when is the Internet supposed to JUDGE? So, this lead me to trying something new. I was always sceptical of this Glee people were talking about. To be fair, I’m often way late on these “hype” type stuff, but it just really really didn’t seem interesting to me. A bunch of high school kids singing and dancing? Sounded like that Zac Efron thing. But since I landed on this wonderful site called www.watchgleeepisodes.com, which let me stream as much as I wanted to, without JUDGING me, I thought WHY NOT. It was better than facing the real world on this particular Sunday.

I watched and I take everything bad I’ve ever said about Glee back. The heartfelt covers of mainstream hits. The predictable teenage feuds. The subtly hilarious dialogue. The messages of hope about diversity and how it was okay to be an underdog, because everyone is your friend in the Glee Club, where you express yourself through singing and dancing. I think I said “oh my God, I love Glee. This is the best show ever,” after the end  of each of the 10 episodes I watched in a row…..

So, seriously friends, are you okay? Are incredibly amazing things happening to you? If so, write to us, share, because some of us need it. To the others, stay home, it’s okay, get in bed and meet my new friends. Let’s hide from this cloud of doom hovering above of us, it’s not safe right now. Come over, there’s some space with the cats and the roommates. We’ll make popcorn and tea.  Anyway, I have to go, another episode beckons. Chin up friends, sometimes all you need is a little bit of Glee.
